Vic
"Vic" is a nickname for the AcadiaGeeks wiki administrator, Mark Veinot.
While the name technically arose in high-school as a taunting, it gained popularity when Vic began attending Acadia in the Fall of 1997.
The taunting came about from an incident when Mark inquired from a friend in highschool - whom he knew to have previously owned a Vic-20 personal computer - if he still had it and if so, would he be willing to sell it for Mark's nostalgic desires.
The subject of this inquiry travelled throughout the school and soon many people were referring to Mark as "Vic-20" in a deriding manner.
Such is the life of a highschool geek.
Eventually the time came when post-graduation Mark decided to attend Acadia University. During his first year he and former high-school acquaintance Gerald opted to split a corner-double room in the 4D section of Chase Court - a residence - so as to have a familiar face near by.
With Gerald came the Vic-20 moniker. Whether it was Gerald's doing or that of the other students in the dorm section, the -20 suffix was dropped and Mark ended up with a rather cool sounding nickname.
Amongst his friends the use of the nickname is far more popular than his actual name and is used during introductions to parents and other friends. Several people he has known for years weren't aware that Vic wasn't even his real name until it was revealed to them.
The rest, as they say, is history.
